## Synopsis

Doom Patrol (2019-2023) is an American adult superhero series developed by Jeremy Carver for DC Universe and later HBO Max, adapted from the DC Comics team. The series follows a team of scarred misfits, each left with a superhuman ability after a horrible accident, who are gathered by a mysterious mentor called the Chief to investigate the strangest phenomena in existence and protect Earth from what they uncover. Diane Guerrero plays the chaotic Crazy Jane, April Bowlby is Rita Farr, also known as Elasti-Woman, Joivan Wade plays the cyborg Victor Stone, and Riley Shanahan voices and embodies Cliff Steele as Robotman, with Matt Bomer voicing Larry Trainor's Negative Man. Across four seasons and forty-six episodes, the show runs on case-of-the-week missions that grow into a longer serialized arc, blending absurdist comedy with raw depictions of trauma, grief and bodily damage. Its visual register is lurid and colorful, its tone is irreverent yet tender, and its emotional core is a found family of outcasts. Fans of The Umbrella Academy, Legion and Preacher will find a similar mix of oddball heroics and wounded hearts. The series is recommended for adult viewers who enjoy strange, emotionally bruised superhero stories.
