## Synopsis

The Last Dance (2020) is a American limited series documentary created by Michael Tollin for ESPN. Across ten roughly fifty-minute episodes, it tracks Michael Jordan (who narrates his own story through interview) and the Chicago Bulls dynasty, with teammates Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Steve Kerr and head coach Phil Jackson appearing as principal voices. The engine of the series is the championship pursuit of the 1997-98 season, built from rare never-before-seen footage and sound captured behind the scenes, woven together with more than one hundred interviews with figures across the game. Rather than a single linear race to the title, the episodes move between the present-day reflections of the participants and earlier years, showing the rivalries, locker room tensions, and the pressure of sustaining greatness. The emotional register is intimate and reflective, combining the thrill of big games with a wistful look back at an era that is now history. Fans of Hoop Dreams, Drive to Survive and other sports docuseries will find resonance in its access-driven storytelling, its blend of archival footage and candid testimony, and its portrait of elite competitors at the peak of their craft.
