## Synopsis

Over Water (2018-2020) is a Flemish crime drama series created by Tom Lenaerts and Paul Baeten Gronda for VRT 1. Tom Dewispelaere plays John Beckers, a former television star who, after rehab, takes a job at the freight company of his father-in-law in the port of Antwerp. Natali Broods plays his wife Marjan, who gives him one last chance to rebuild his family life, while Tom van Dyck and Kevin Janssens appear among the principal players of the dock world. The engine of the show is John's struggle against old demons and new temptations as he learns the harsh rules of the docks and finds increasingly extreme ways to make the port work for him. Across two seasons of ten episodes each, the series moves through dockside negotiations, family strain and the lure of a lucrative cocaine trade, building a grounded, tense and melancholic atmosphere. Its tone is gritty and character driven, with the working port as a vivid backdrop. Fans of Breaking Bad and Ozark will find resonance in its portrait of a compromised antihero pulled deeper into the underworld by his own choices.
