## Synopsis

The House of Flowers (2018-2020) is a Mexican telenovela-inflected dramedy created by Manolo Caro for Netflix. Verónica Castro plays Virginia De la Mora, the matriarch of a wealthy Mexico City family who clings to appearances, while Aislinn Derbez plays Elena De la Mora, a daughter navigating the household's hidden pain. Arturo Ríos plays Ernesto De la Mora, and Cecilia Suárez plays Paulina De la Mora, both entangled in the family's secrets. The engine of the series is the struggle to maintain a flawless public face after a husband's mistress exposes the family's dirty secrets, with each episode unspooling new betrayals, rivalries and sibling tensions. Told as a three-season serialized story with a continuing arc, it moves between melodramatic confrontation and sharp satire of privilege. Its tone is campy, glossy and emotionally heightened, with dark comedy running beneath the drama. Set in contemporary upper class Mexico City, it suits viewers who enjoy Succession, Dynasty and Ugly Betty for their glossy scandal, family rivalry and bold comic excess.
