## Synopsis

Club de Cuervos Presents: The Ballad of Hugo Sánchez (2018) is a Mexican comedy miniseries created for Netflix. Jesús Zavala plays Hugo Sánchez, a doting personal assistant to the wealthy club owner Chava Iglesias, who is handed the job of leading the Club de Cuervos football team to victory in Nicaragua. His biggest obstacle is his overbearing mother, whose permission he must somehow secure before he can leave home. Mauro Mauad, Ianis Guerrero and Aldo Escalante round out the ensemble of players and staff whose eccentric antics fill the six short episodes. The engine of the show is the chaos of a team that is far from ready, with absurd training sessions, fumbled tactics and a trip that becomes an increasingly unlikely adventure. The series spins off from the Club de Cuervos world and carries that show's irreverent, sharply satirical sense of Mexican football culture. Its tone is breezy and cheeky, with a deadpan streak that keeps the absurdity grounded. Fans of Club de Cuervos, Ted Lasso and Narcos will find a similar mix of sports comedy and offbeat Latin American humor. Each episode runs about thirty-four minutes, making it a quick, easy watch.
