## Synopsis

The Good Cop (2018) is an American comedy series created by Andy Breckman for Netflix. Honest NYPD officer Tony Caruso Jr. (Josh Groban) tries to do his job by the book, but his retired cop father Tony Caruso Sr. (Tony Danza), an unscrupulous former officer, keeps offering him street-smart advice on cases, colleagues, and his love life. Supporting players include Cora Vasquez (Monica Barbaro) and Burl Loomis (Isiah Whitlock Jr.), who help widen the workplace around Tony Jr. The engine of the show is the friction between a son's principles and a father's shortcuts, playing out in short episodic cases and personal misadventures across a single season of ten roughly fifty-minute episodes. The series is a light, breezy comedy with a warm family core, a bit of cynicism about policing, and an odd couple rhythm that will appeal to viewers who enjoy the cop comedy and crooked-dad dynamic of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and the family mischief of Bad Teacher. Set in contemporary New York, it leans on sardonic banter and affectionate chemistry rather than dark stakes. Its single season was canceled, leaving the story open, but the tone stays easygoing and sincere throughout.
