## Synopsis

Homecoming (2018-2020) is a US prestige psychological thriller series created by Sam Esmail, Micah Bloomberg and Eli Horowitz for Prime Video, adapted from a podcast. Julia Roberts plays caseworker Heidi Bergman, who once worked at a Geist Group facility helping soldiers readjust to civilian life and now waits tables and lives with her mother Ellen (Sissy Spacek). When a Department of Defense auditor starts asking why she left the program, the careful story she has told herself begins to unravel. Stephan James plays Walter Cruz, a fellow staffer whose memories and loyalties grow harder to trust. Bobby Cannavale and Chris Cooper round out the principal cast as figures tied to the company's hidden agenda. The engine of the show is a quiet, mounting unease: Heidi must reconcile fragmented recollections with what others claim happened, while the facility's secrets press closer. The series runs two seasons across seventeen episodes, each about half an hour, and its present-day scenes sit in the American heartland of the late 2010s. Its mood is tense and paranoid, with a melancholic undercurrent of grief and displacement. Fans of Severance, Mr. Robot and The Leftovers will find resonance in its corporate conspiracy, shifting memory and slow burn dread.
