## Synopsis

The Loudest Voice (2019) is an American limited series created by Tom McCarthy and Gabriel Sherman for Showtime. Across seven episodes of roughly forty-eight minutes each, it dramatizes the rise and fall of Fox News founder Roger Ailes, played by Russell Crowe under heavy prosthetics. Sienna Miller plays his wife Beth, a steadying presence as the empire tightens around them, while Naomi Watts portrays anchor Gretchen Carlson, whose complaints against the network become a reckoning. Seth MacFarlane and Simon McBurney appear as Brian Lewis and Rupert Murdoch, figures inside the machine. The engine of the story is Ailes's ambition: how he built a channel that reshaped American politics and effectively ran the Republican Party from a newsroom, and how the same control allowed abuse to fester behind closed doors. Flashbacks to his earlier life fill in the making of the man. The mood is tense, claustrophobic and unsettling, with stretches of cold calculation and moments of raw human cost. Fans of Succession, Chernobyl and The Social Network will find resonance in its dramatized true events, corporate power plays and portrait of a flawed, formidable figure. It is a single-season, self-contained story told with prestige production values and a commanding central performance.
