## Synopsis

Jesus (2018-2019) is a Brazilian biblical drama series created by Paula Richard for Record. Dudu Azevedo plays Jesus, a carpenter's son who becomes a teacher and healer in first century Judea, while Cláudia Mauro portrays his mother Maria, a constant presence through his journey. Guilherme Winter plays Judas Iscariotes, whose loyalty and doubt pull against the growing movement, and Mayana Moura plays Satanás, the tempter who opposes Jesus throughout. The engine of the series is a man's mission to spread a message of love and faith against a Roman occupation and the political pressures of Jerusalem, with each episode built from parables, miracles, confrontations with religious authorities and the escalating tension among his followers. Told as a single serialized story across 196 hour-long episodes in one season, it has the scale and grandeur of a prime-time Brazilian telenovela with lavish period sets and melodramatic emotional swells. Its tone is devotional and earnest, with moments of harrowing dread, and it draws the same audiences who followed The Bible (2013) and Os Dez Mandamentos for sweeping faith-centered storytelling.
