## Synopsis

Millennium (2010) is a Swedish-Danish-German nordic noir miniseries created by Niels Arden Oplev, Daniel Alfredson and Stieg Larsson for SVT1. Investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist, played by Michael Nyqvist, is drawn into an endlessly dark world of murder and hidden corruption, and he cannot solve it alone. Enigmatic hacker Lisbeth Salander, played by Noomi Rapace, becomes his only guide, a prickly and wounded outsider whose skills and mistrust of authority shape every step of the inquiry. Magazine editor Erika Berger (Lena Endre) and a circle of colleagues and police contacts supply the pressure and the leads. The engine is a patient, methodical hunt through records, interviews and surveillance, where each revelation pulls the investigators closer to powerful men who would rather the truth stay buried. Across six feature-length episodes the miniseries stays claustrophobic and morally heavy, with a cold, rain-soaked palette and a steady sense of dread. Set in contemporary Sweden, it is a limited series built on a single continuous case. Fans of The Killing, The Bridge and Broadchurch will find resonance in its brooding atmosphere and procedural precision.
