## Synopsis

Ashes of Love (2018) is a Chinese xianxia fantasy romance series produced for Jiangsu Television, a single-season run of 63 episodes. Yang Zi plays Jin Mi, the daughter of a flower deity who has been fed a pill that blocks her from feeling or expressing romantic love. Her emotional life becomes tangled between Heavenly Prince Xu Feng, played by Deng Lun, and the ambitious Night Deity Run Yu, played by Luo Yunxi. The engine of the story is a web of divine politics, sibling rivalry and misunderstanding among immortals, where every affection is shadowed by manipulation and the unresolved question of what Jin Mi truly feels. Episodes unfold in a celestial court and mortal-adjacent realms, with ornate costume design and lush fantasy landscapes setting the scene. The tone is sweet yet painful, a register of longing, separation and tearful reunion that defines the romance. Its emotional center is the struggle between duty and desire inside a rigid heavenly hierarchy. Fans of Eternal Love and The Journey of Flower will find resonance in its star crossed lovers, its xianxia spectacle and its melancholic devotion.
