## Synopsis

Un gars, une fille (1997-present) is a Quebec sitcom created by Guy A. Lepage for ICI Radio-Canada Télé. Lepage plays Guy, a man in a contemporary Quebec city, opposite Sylvie Léonard as Sylvie, his partner in a long-running relationship. Supporting roles include Louise Richer as Loulou, Anyjeanne Savaria as Camille, and Élise Guilbault as Élise, each drifting in and out of the couple's orbit. Each short episode of roughly twenty-six minutes follows the ordinary friction of cohabiting and dating: arguments about small household decisions, awkward encounters with friends and exes, and the blunt candour of two people who know each other too well. The engine is the gap between what the couple says and what they mean, played out in quick dialogue scenes rather than grand plots. The series runs as a multi-season, episodic sitcom with a loose continuing relationship arc, and it is one of the most successful television comedies in its home province. Its tone is breezy, wry and warm, with a conversational realism that feels closer to a stage two-hander than to a scripted farce. The format has been exported to France and the United States, and fans of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm will find a similar appetite for talk-driven relational comedy.
