## Synopsis

I Am the Night (2019) is a American limited series created by Sam Sheridan for TNT, a six-episode crime mystery built on a true story. Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), a young woman who was given away by her teenage birth mother, begins digging into the secrets of her own past, and her search tracks a sinister trail toward an infamous Hollywood gynecologist, George Hodel (Jefferson Mays), whose name is bound up with the legendary Black Dahlia murder. Her investigation is shadowed by Jay Singletary (Chris Pine), a Black Los Angeles detective whose own pursuit of the truth pulls him into a segregated city where police corruption and racial prejudice shape every lead. Corinna Hodel (Connie Nielsen) anchors the family's buried history. Each episode unfolds like a mystery box, with flashbacks threading the past into the present and red herrings that keep the trail unstable. The tone is neo-noir and moody, with a surreal, dreamlike unease that blurs memory and obsession. Fans of Chinatown, Zodiac and True Detective will find resonance in its shadowed Los Angeles streets, its moral rot beneath polished surfaces, and its slow-burning dread.
