## Synopsis

The Mire (Rojst) (2018-2024) is a Polish crime drama series created for Netflix and Showmax, a three-season serialized mystery spanning seventeen episodes. Seasoned journalist Witold Wanycz (Andrzej Seweryn) is handed a brutal double murder in a provincial Silesian town, and he soon learns of the mysterious suicides of two teenagers. Working alongside young reporter Piotr Zarzycki (Dawid Ogrodnik), he pursues the truth while the town closes ranks, and fellow investigators and local figures such as Anna Jass (Magdalena Różczka) and Teresa Zarzycka (Zofia Wichłacz) are drawn into the search. Each season deepens the case, moving through swamp-side villages, hotel rooms, and municipal offices where old loyalties and buried guilt surface. The atmosphere is damp, oppressive, and quietly melancholic, shaped by the political tension of 1980s Poland and the pressures of activism and state control. Fans of Twin Peaks, The Killing and True Detective will find resonance in its slow-burn dread, its rural secrecy, and its weary, morally compromised investigators. Its tone stays dark and unflinching, with a steady, patient build toward uncomfortable answers.
