## Synopsis

The Truth Will Out (2018-2021) is a Swedish nordic noir crime series created by Aron Levander and Hans Jörnlind for Kanal 5 and Viaplay. Robert Gustafsson plays Detective Peter Wendel, a troubled investigator whose fractured psyche makes him a difficult leader, and Louise Peterhoff plays Caijsa Bergholm, a sharp colleague who joins him on a mismatched cold case team. Johan Ulveson and Ingela Olsson fill out the investigative circle. The engine of the show is a cryptic message that casts doubt on whether Sweden's most notorious killer is truly guilty, and each episode follows the team as they dig through old files, interview aging witnesses, and test whether the official story holds. Across two seasons totaling thirteen hour-long episodes, the series moves between patient procedural work and the detective's own unraveling mind. Its tone is cold, brooding and melancholic, with a steady undercurrent of paranoia and moral unease. Its roots in a true story give the case a grounded weight. Viewers who enjoy The Killing, The Bridge and Mindhunter will find resonance in its Nordic atmosphere and its patient, character-driven examination of guilt and doubt.
