## Synopsis

The Guest (2018) is a South Korean supernatural crime series created by Kim Hong-sun for OCN. Across a single sixteen-episode season, a psychic, a priest and a detective join forces to fight unusual crimes committed by people wielding strange powers. The engine is a case-by-case hunt: each episode turns on an eerie incident whose culprit draws on shamanic or demonic forces, and the investigators must expose and confront them before more lives are lost. Kim Dong-wook plays psychic Yoon Hwa-pyung, Kim Jae-uck plays Choi Yoon, and Jung Eun-chae plays Kang Kil-young, with Park Ho-san as Detective Ko and Ahn Nae-sang as Priest Yang rounding out the principal cast. The series sits within the Korean drama tradition of a tvN-style prestige genre hybrid, mixing police procedure with exorcism rites and folk religion. Its tone is dark and tense, with bleak, unsettling imagery and a steady undercurrent of dread, though the investigators' bond gives the grim material a human anchor. Fans of The Exorcist, Medium and Hellbound will find resonance in its blend of spiritual horror and criminal investigation. Set in contemporary South Korea, it is a self-contained, mature thriller for adult viewers who enjoy eerie, morally complex stories.
