## Synopsis

Eleventh Hour (2008-2009) is an American network science procedural created by Stephen Gallagher for CBS. Rufus Sewell plays biophysicist Dr. Jacob Hood, a special science advisor to the government who is pulled into scientific crises and oddities, working alongside Marley Shelton as Rachel Young. The engine of the series is Hood's crusade to protect the substance of science from people who would abuse and misuse discoveries for their own gain. Each episode is a self-contained case of the week, with Hood reasoning through lab evidence, unusual phenomena and government pressure to expose who is exploiting a discovery and why. The single season of eighteen episodes runs as a contained procedural, with recurring guest stars rotating through as scientists, officials and witnesses. The tone is cerebral and measured, with tense investigative momentum rather than action spectacle, and the mood stays grounded and intelligent. Fans of Fringe, Bones and The X-Files will find resonance in its blend of scientific puzzle solving, government intrigue and a brilliant lead who treats reason as a weapon against corruption. The series was canceled after its only season, leaving its overarching crusade open.
