## Synopsis

The Enemy Within (2019) is an American network spy thriller created by Ken Woodruff for NBC. Erica Shepherd (Jennifer Carpenter), once a brilliant CIA operative and now the most notorious traitor in American history, serves a life sentence in a Supermax prison. FBI agent Will Keaton (Morris Chestnut) reluctantly turns to her for help tracking down a fiercely dangerous and elusive criminal she knows all too well. The engine is the uneasy partnership: Keaton is fighting his own instincts, Shepherd has motives of her own, and each case turns on the pair learning to anticipate a rogue operative's moves. Raza Jaffrey, Kelli Garner and Noah Mills fill out the investigative team, and Sophia Gennusa plays Shepherd's daughter, adding a personal stake beyond the chase. The thirteen episodes of its single season are built as a continuing manhunt, with each step tightening the net around the target. Its tone is tense and paranoid, with moral ambiguity sitting under every collaboration, and its setting is the present-day American intelligence world. Fans of White Collar, Alias and Mr. Robot will find resonance in its blend of procedural tradecraft and a dangerous insider pulled into the chase. The series was canceled after its first season, leaving the hunt unfinished.
