## Synopsis

Grand Hotel (2019) is an American prime-time family drama created by Brian Tanen for ABC. Set in present-day multicultural Miami Beach, it follows hotelier Santiago Mendoza (Demián Bichir), who owns the last family-owned hotel on the strip, while his glamorous second wife Gigi (Roselyn Sánchez) and his adult children, including Alicia (Denyse Tontz) and Javi (Bryan Craig), enjoy the spoils of the family's success. The engine of the show is the tension between old-world family loyalty and the pressure of a luxury property that must keep its staff, guests and rivals in line. Each episode moves through the lobby, the suites and the family's private rooms, where pride, money and private betrayals collide. The overall tone is glossy and melodramatic, with a soapy, upstairs downstairs texture and a warm sense of place shaped by Miami's diverse communities. Shape-wise it is a single thirteen-episode season with a serialized family arc, and the series was canceled after that run. Fans of Dynasty, Succession and Ugly Betty will find resonance in its mix of glamour, family conflict and social class. Its 44-minute episodes are accessible and easy to follow, making it a light, watchable family saga.
