## Synopsis

The Inmate (2018) is a Mexican crime drama series created for Telemundo and set in present-day Mexico. Ignacio Serricchio plays Lazaro Mendoza, a former U.S. Marine who enters the maximum security prison La Rotunda under the false identity of Dante Pardo, accused of a triple murder. His mission is to infiltrate a dangerous band of inmates and guards who operate both inside and outside the walls and are suspected of kidnapping the teenage daughter of a U.S. judge. Ana Claudia Talancon plays Frida Villarreal, one of the figures tied to the case, and Erik Hayser plays Jeremy Jones. Across a single thirteen-episode season, the story runs on undercover tension, shifting loyalties among inmates and corrupt guards, and the constant risk that his cover will be exposed. Each hour pushes the search for the missing girl forward while the prison's hierarchy grows more dangerous. The tone is tense and gritty, with a claustrophobic, cat-and-mouse atmosphere. Fans of Prison Break, Oz and Narcos will find resonance in its blend of prison intrigue, criminal power and a lone operative fighting to stay alive.
