## Synopsis

Spaced (1999-2001) is a British sitcom created by Simon Pegg, Jessica Hynes and Edgar Wright for Channel 4. Across two series of seven episodes each, it follows Daisy Steiner (Jessica Hynes) and Tim Bisley (Simon Pegg), two aspiring young adults who pose as a couple to land a rented flat in London. Their scheme gives them a home but not the lives they dreamed of, so each episode finds them chasing creative ambitions, painting, writing and fantasy, while the bills and the rent keep piling up. The flat is shared with the eccentric, unpredictable artist Mike Watt (Nick Frost) and the landlady Marsha Klein (Julia Deakin), whose presence drives much of the chaos. The engine of the show is the gap between grand dreams and cramped, everyday London existence, played out in quick, wry scenes of awkward social encounters and small domestic crises. Episodes often break into vivid pop culture pastiche, with homages to action films, zombie movies and video games. The tone is wry, warm and gently surreal, with a strong sense of creative friendship at its core. Fans of Friends, The IT Crowd and Peep Show will find resonance in its sharp, character driven comedy and its affectionate portrait of young adults muddling through city life.
