## Synopsis

False Identity (2018-2021) is a Mexican-American Spanish-language crime telenovela created by Perla Farías for Telemundo. Isabel Fernández (Camila Sodi) and Diego Hidalgo (Luis Ernesto Franco), two strangers, must assume the identity of a married couple to escape the state of Sonora, and the engine of the series is the constant risk that their borrowed lives unravel. Each episode layers escape scenes with new layers of deception, as the fugitives navigate criminal networks, political corruption and dangerous people who know more than they should. Victoria Lamas (Dulce María) and Mateo Corona (Eduardo Yáñez) carry much of the surrounding intrigue, while Gavino Gaona (Sergio Goyri) and Cirse Gaona (Samadhi Zendejas) add rival loyalties and family pressure. The story unfolds across two seasons and 171 episodes, a serialized sequence of cliffhangers and reversals rather than standalone cases. The atmosphere mixes melodrama with hard-edged thriller tension, with moments of romance that feel fragile against violence and sorrow. Fans of Breaking Bad, Narcos and the classic Yo soy Betty, la fea will find resonance in its blend of fugitive suspense, forbidden tenderness and the classic telenovela appetite for twists.
