## Synopsis

Go Go Squid! (2019) is a Chinese television romantic comedy series created by Xiang Xu Jing and Gia Lee, produced by Huace Pictures and aired on Zhejiang Television and Dragon Television. Tong Nian (Yang Zi) is a gifted nineteen-year-old with a sharp mind, a talent for singing, and a famous following as an anime cosplayer, yet she struggles to read other people. She falls hard for Han Shangyan (Li Xian), a reclusive esports prodigy who seems immune to every girl who approaches him. The engine of the story is her persistent pursuit, layered with the rivalries, teamwork demands, and competitive pressure of the professional gaming world, along with the teammates who surround him, including Mi Shaofei (Lee Hong-Chi). Each episode blends playful misunderstandings, training sessions, tournament stakes, and awkward encounters into a single continuing romance spread across one season of forty-one episodes. Set in contemporary China, the series moves between dorm life, cosplay conventions, and arena matches. Its tone is breezy and warm, with a cold-man, warm-woman dynamic at its heart. Fans of Meteor Garden and Hana Yori Dango will find resonance in its romantic chemistry and lighthearted tone, while viewers drawn to gaming stories may enjoy its esports backdrop.
