## Synopsis

Weakest Beast (2018) is a Japanese romance drama series created for Nippon Television Network and produced with K-Factory. Yui Aragaki plays Akira Shinkai, a polished professional worn out from worrying about how to be perfect, and Ryuhei Matsuda plays Kosei Nemoto, a popular, amicable colleague who trusts no one and keeps his feelings locked away. Their paths cross by chance at a craft beer bar after work, and the single ten-episode season follows their awkward, combative friendship as they gradually grow close enough to argue and speak plainly. The engine of the show is the pull between the masks these adults wear at the office and the raw wants underneath them, with each episode built from small confrontations, late evening drinks and quiet moments of self-revelation. Set in contemporary Tokyo, the story stays grounded in ordinary work and city life. Its tone is wry, prickly and tender, a bittersweet portrait of people trying to live honestly again. Fans of Mother and Hirunaka no Ryuseigun will find resonance in its adult emotional restraint and romantic tension.
