## Synopsis

Sara (2018) is a Portuguese comedy miniseries created by Ricardo Adolfo, Marco Martins and Bruno Nogueira for RTP2. Beatriz Batarda plays Sara Moreno, a film actress famous for crying on cue, whose tears suddenly dry up along with her interest in cinema. Her search for a way back leads her into the world of soap operas, a medium she has long looked down on, and the eight-episode run follows her collisions with an industry that values spectacle over craft. Nuno Lopes plays João Nunes, and Bruno Nogueira appears as Paulo Prazeres, with José Raposo, Rita Blanco and António Durães rounding out the principal cast. The engine of the show is simple: a proud performer must humble herself to rediscover what made her art matter. Each episode turns on set disputes, rehearsal humiliations, tangled personal loyalties and the absurd rhythms of daily television production. The tone is dry, self-aware and sharply observant, with gentle satire aimed at vanity and at the performers who inhabit both worlds. Fans of Extras, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Better Things will find resonance in its wry view of celebrity and creative compromise. It is a short, breezy watch about artistic pride, reinvention and the surprising dignity of doing honest work in front of a camera.
