## Synopsis

Heartbeat (Kalp Atışı, 2017-2018) is a Turkish medical romance drama created by Eda Tezcan and Makbule Kosif and produced by MF Yapım for Show TV. Across a single season of twenty-eight two-hour episodes, the story follows Eylül Erdem (Öykü Karayel), a headstrong young woman who grew up to become a capable surgeon. Her former teacher Ali Asaf Denizoğlu (Gökhan Alkan) returns to her life years after their student days, and the two now work side by side in the operating room rather than as teacher and pupil. Eylül wants her love to be honored without surrendering the independence she has built, and the stubborn heart she guards is shaped by the memory of her mother's painful fate. Hospital shifts, professional rivalries and the personal histories of colleagues such as Bahar Tunç (Ege Kökenli) and Sinan Tunç (Hakan Gerçek) press on the central pairing. The tone is earnest and emotional, with melodrama foregrounded over spectacle, and the romance is the engine that drives each episode. Fans of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, with their workplace romance and hospital melodrama, will find familiar comfort here, while viewers drawn to Turkish television drama will recognise its heartfelt, sentimental register.
