## Synopsis

Informer (2018) is a British-Dutch miniseries created by Sohrab Noshirvani and Rory Haines for BBC One. Across six hour-long episodes, young second-generation British-Pakistani Londoner Raza Shar (Nabhaan Rizwan) is pressed by counterterrorism officer Gabe Waters (Paddy Considine) into becoming an informant. Raza's position grows more precarious as he is pulled between his family and the men he is being asked to betray, while Gabe's own handling tactics and his colleague Holly Morten (Bel Powley) raise questions about who is really in control. The engine of the story is a single coerced bargain and the escalating costs of keeping it hidden, with each episode tightening the pressure on Raza's home life and his community. Shaped as one continuous, tightly plotted story rather than a case-of-the-week format, it is a contained limited series set in contemporary London. Its tone is tense, grounded and morally fraught, with a bleak, paranoid atmosphere that rewards close attention. Fans of Spooks, Line of Duty and The Night Manager will find resonance in its state surveillance unease and compromised loyalties.
