## Synopsis

Domestic Girlfriend (2019) is a Japanese anime romance series produced by studios including diomedéa and FlyingDog, adapted from a Kodansha manga and broadcast on MBS and TBS. Natsuo, a high school boy pining hopelessly for his teacher Hina, drifts into a one-night stand with Rui, a girl he meets at a mixer and never expects to see again. Their fling becomes impossible to escape when his father remarries and the two women are revealed as Natsuo's new stepsisters. Voice performances by Taku Yashiro as Natsuo, Yoko Hikasa as Hina and Maaya Uchida as Rui carry the emotional tug between the three characters. The twelve episodes of this single season are built on awkward household encounters, shifting loyalties and escalating romantic confusion in a contemporary Japanese setting. Its tone swings between steamy, comic and wistful, with a melancholic undercurrent of longing. Fans of Oreimo, Tonikaku Kawaii and Kimi ni Todoke will recognise its romantic melodrama and its eagerness to push a love triangle to its limits.
