## Synopsis

Eli Roth's History of Horror (2018-2021) is an American documentary docuseries created for AMC, hosted by horror director Eli Roth. Across three seasons and nineteen episodes of roughly forty-two minutes each, Roth walks viewers through the history and pop cultural weight of horror cinema, giving each episode over to one specific subgenre and its most influential classic films. Along the way he is joined by filmmakers and genre aficionados, including Joe Dante, Greg Nicotero, Chris Hardwick and Tori Spelling, who supply behind-the-scenes memories, anecdotes and critical opinions. The engine is simple and enthusiastic: Roth revisits scenes, clips and production stories that shaped the genre, and each installment builds a case for why these movies still matter. The tone is energetic, affectionate and knowing, with the warmth of a fan talking to fellow fans. It suits anyone who loves slasher films, monster movies and cult favorites, and it will appeal to cinephiles who enjoy film history, genre analysis and the craft behind frightening movies. Fans of Mark Kermode's Hatchet Job and Scream Greats will find similar pleasure in a passionate, deeply informed tour through the films that scared generations.
