## Synopsis

Cold Feet (1998-2020) is a British comic drama series created by Mike Bullen for ITV1, a nine-season relationship ensemble set in Manchester. The engine of the show is a close circle of thirtysomething friends, centred on Adam Williams (James Nesbitt) and his friend Pete Gifford (John Thomson), along with Pete's wife Jenny Gifford (Fay Ripley) and the Marsdens, Karen (Hermione Norris) and David (Robert Bathurst). Each of them wants lasting love, but cannot quite commit, and the friction between their hopes and their hesitations drives every storyline. Episodes are built from the tangled details of dating, marriage, parenthood and infidelity, with the group gathering for dinners, arguments and confessions. Its shape is a continuing serialized saga across nine seasons with self-contained emotional arcs woven through them. The tone is wry, warm and frequently funny, with a melancholy undercurrent about a generation liberated by choice yet confused by it. Northern English locations and everyday working life give the romance a grounded texture. Fans of Thirtysomething, Friends and This Life will find resonance in its sharp, humane view of adult romantic uncertainty.
