## Synopsis

I am Bartu (2018) is a Turkish comedy-drama series created by Bartu Küçükçağlayan for BluTV. Küçükçağlayan plays a fictionalized version of himself, a former art-house film and television actor who has been a little celebrity and is now becoming even less famous. Bartu's engine is simple and painful: he wants to hold on to the recognition that once came easily, while the industry, his friends, and his own vanity keep pushing him toward irrelevance. Supporting players include Müfit Kayacan as Dayı, Nazlı Bulum as Gizmo, Wolf Yener Özer as Erdi, Okan Urun as Mercimek, and Cemre Ebüzziya as Serap, who together make up his loose circle of friends and acquaintances. Each of the ten roughly forty-minute episodes is a small, self-contained episode of embarrassment, networking, and missed opportunities drawn from the everyday life of a working actor in Istanbul. The show is a single completed season, and it reads as a self-deprecating satire of celebrity culture. Its tone is wry, melancholic, and affectionate, with deadpan humor that turns the actor's own career into the joke. Fans of Extras, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Entourage will find resonance in its insider comedy about ego, decline, and the fragile machinery of fame.
