## Synopsis

Kieler Street (2018) is a Norwegian crime drama series created by Stig Frode Henriksen, Jesper Sundnes and Patrik Syversen for TV 2 Direkte. Its single season of ten episodes, each around forty-four minutes, follows Jonas Schulman (Thorbjørn Harr), a newcomer who has settled in what is advertised as Scandinavia's least criminal town. The engine of the story is his growing unease as the calm facade cracks and he realises that many of his neighbours are former criminals carrying dark secrets. Andrea Bræin Hovig plays Elin, Ylva Fuglerud plays Sofie, Sigurd Myhre plays William, and Janne Heltberg plays Barbara, all residents whose new lives depend on keeping their pasts buried. Each episode layers suspicion, quiet confrontation and small betrayals within the close-knit community, so that every friendly gesture carries the question of who is hiding what. The mood is tense and watchful, with a sunlit, orderly surface that gradually feels unsettling. Viewers who enjoy the nordic noir tradition, with its restrained characters and slow reveal of buried history, will find the atmosphere familiar, and fans of The Killing and Twin Peaks will recognise its appetite for a community built on secrets. The series is a complete, self-contained arc that rewards patient attention and close watching.
