## Synopsis

Das Boot (2018-2023) is a German-language war drama series created by Johannes W. Betz and Tony Saint, produced for Sky One and WOW. Adapted loosely from the world of the 1981 film, it follows an inexperienced U-boat crew during World War II as they carry out a secret mission beneath the Atlantic. Robert Ehrenberg (Franz Dinda) is a young crew member whose sense of duty is tested against the cramped, dangerous life aboard the submarine, while officers such as Hagen Forster (Tom Wlaschiha) and Wilhelm Hoffmann (Ernst Stötzner) embody the weight of command. Alongside the boat's routines, the story turns to Simone Strasser (Vicky Krieps), a young German woman torn between loyalty to her homeland and the French resistance. The series runs four seasons across thirty-two episodes, shaped as one continuing story rather than standalone adventures. Its tone is tense, grim and claustrophobic, with the constant pressure of enemy waters and the moral cost of war shaping every scene. Fans of Band of Brothers, Generation War and the original Das Boot will find its mix of wartime peril, divided loyalty and confined suspense familiar and compelling.
