## Synopsis

En Nombre Del Amor (2008-2009) is a Mexican telenovela produced by Televisa for Las Estrellas, a remake of the earlier Cadenas de Amargura. Created by Cuauhtémoc Blanco, María del Carmen Peña, Martha Carrillo and Cristina Garcia, the series runs for 170 episodes in a single season. Allisson Lozz plays Paloma Espinoza de los Monteros and Sebastián Zurita plays Emiliano Sáenz, a romantic pair whose bond is tested by family loyalties and class divides. Leticia Calderón plays Carlota Espinoza de los Monteros, the scheming villain whose manipulations drive the plot, while Victoria Ruffo, Arturo Peniche and Alfredo Adame fill out the principal cast. The engine of each episode is a steady run of secrets, betrayals and misunderstandings that keep the lovers apart. Its shape is a long daily melodrama with an arc that builds toward a grand finale. Set in contemporary Mexico, it is a classic soap opera with a heightened, emotional register: sincere, sweeping and dramatic. Fans of Cadenas de Amargura, La usurpadora and Rubí will find resonance in its romantic rivalries and family intrigue.
