## Synopsis

The Hunters (2018-2021) is a Swedish nordic noir crime miniseries created by Björn Carlström and Stefan Thunberg and broadcast on C More First. Rolf Lassgård plays Erik Bäckström, a retired Stockholm police veteran who returns to the northernmost reaches of Sweden, where he helps his nephew Peter Bäckström (Johan Marenius Nordahl), a rookie at the local police. Pelle Heikkilä plays Markus Lindmark, another officer whose path crosses the investigations. The engine of the series is a retired investigator who cannot quite stay retired, pulled back into cases that expose uneasy local secrets while he tries to guide a young officer through them. Across two seasons of six episodes each, the stories unfold as serialized investigations, with a case that builds through each season rather than a standalone case of the week. The setting is a remote northern Swedish town under long winters, and the atmosphere is cold, psychological and restrained. The tone is melancholic and tense, with a steady focus on family loyalty and the weight of old experience. Fans of Wallander, Fortitude and The Bridge will find resonance in its brooding landscapes and slow, character-driven investigations.
