## Synopsis

Mirzapur (2018-present) is an Indian Hindi-language crime drama series created by Karan Anshuman, Puneet Krishna and Vineet Krishnan for Prime Video. Pankaj Tripathi plays Akhandanand Tripathi, an iron-fisted millionaire carpet exporter and mafia don, whose power-hungry son Munna is played by Divyendu Sharma. Their rivalry collides with Ramakant Pandit, an upstanding lawyer portrayed by a principal cast member, and his sons Guddu, played by Ali Fazal, and Bablu, played by Vikrant Massey. What begins as an incident at a wedding procession snowballs into a relentless contest of ambition, revenge and greed. The engine of the show is simple and brutal: each season turns on territory, money and the fragile loyalties of family members who would sacrifice one another for control of a lawless city. Episodes are built from shootouts, backroom negotiations, smuggling deals and tense family confrontations that escalate steadily across three seasons. Set in the Uttar Pradesh city of Mirzapur, the series carries a gritty, sweaty atmosphere of dust, weapons and corruption. Its tone is dark, propulsive and occasionally darkly comic, with a bleak sense of inevitability. Fans of Gomorrah, Peaky Blinders and Sacred Games will find much to savour in its portrait of criminal dynasties.
