## Synopsis

Four Weddings and a Funeral (2019) is a American romantic comedy miniseries created by Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton for Hulu, a loose reimagining of the 1994 film. Nathalie Emmanuel plays Maya, a young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign who accepts a wedding invitation from a college schoolmate living in London and abandons her professional life to join the celebrations. Nikesh Patel plays Kash, one of the old friends whose romantic and personal crises pull her deeper into the group, while Rebecca Rittenhouse, John Reynolds and Brandon Mychal Smith round out the circle of friends. The engine of the season is simple: Maya wants a clean break from her career and a little romance, but every reunion exposes new affairs, broken engagements and secrets that spill across London dinners, parties and church pews. Across ten episodes the show moves from one wedding to the next, lampooning London social life while keeping its focus on the friends' messy attachments. Set in present-day London and New York, it is a breezy, sharp-tongued ensemble comedy with a glossy sheen and a tender undercurrent. Fans of Sex and the City, Girls and the original Four Weddings and a Funeral will find resonance in its thirty something romance, witty banter and wedding-season heartache.
