## Synopsis

Al Hayba (2017-2021) is an Arabic-language crime drama series created by Hozan Akko and Said Serhan, produced by Cedars Art Production and broadcast on MBC Drama and MBC Shahid. Taim Hasan plays Jabal, the head of an arms-smuggling clan in a village on the Lebanon-Syria border, a man who must hold together a fractious family while fending off rivals who want his territory. Around him, Adel Karam as Nemer Al Saeed and Nadine Nassib Njeim as Alya add pressure from both allies and enemies, while Mona Wassef as Nahed and Owais Mukhalalti as Sakher bring family loyalties and divided allegiances to the foreground. Across five seasons of roughly thirty episodes each, the series builds a continuing story from smuggling runs, inheritance disputes, shifting alliances and the complicated romances that cut across clan lines. The tone is melodramatic and intense, with the grit of the border trade set against emotional storms of love, betrayal and honor. Set in a close-knit, tightly bound community, it sits within the Arabic television melodrama tradition, and fans of Peaky Blinders, Gomorrah and The Sopranos will find resonance in its clan politics and family loyalty.
