## Synopsis

SKY Castle (2018-2019) is a South Korean satirical dark comedy drama created by Yoo Hyun-mi and Jo Hyun-tak for JTBC, a single-season limited run of twenty episodes. Set in the present day in Seoul's Sky Castle, an exclusive gated residential community for the country's wealthiest families, the story follows mothers whose children's success means everything. Han Seo-jin (Yum Jung-ah) and Noh Seung-hye (Yoon Se-a) anchor a sprawling ensemble that includes Lee Soo-imm (Lee Tae-ran) and Kim Joo-young (Kim Seo-hyung). Their plans for university admission escalate through private tutors, hired consultants and calculated manipulations, and each episode turns the pressure of a national entrance examination into a pointed comedy of manners. The series mixes sharp satire of Korean education fever and class privilege with melodramatic family turmoil, producing a tone that is biting, absurd and quietly sorrowful. Its chilly, glossy interiors contrast with the frantic scheming beneath them. Viewers who enjoy the social critique of Parasite, the status rivalries of Big Little Lies, and the cutting ensemble power plays of Succession will find much to savor in this acclaimed k-drama, a sharply observed portrait of parents who sacrifice everything for their children.
