## Synopsis

Blade Runner: Black Lotus (2021-2022) is an American adult animated cyberpunk series created by Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama for Adult Swim and Crunchyroll. Set in a Los Angeles of 2032, it follows Elle (voiced by Jessica Henwick), a young woman who wakes with no memory but with deadly fighting skills. Her only clues are a locked data device and a tattoo of a black lotus, and she pushes through the city's criminal underworld and corporate machinery to find the people responsible for her brutal past. Officer Alani Davis (Samira Wiley) and the corporate figure Niander Wallace Jr. (Wes Bentley) add pressure from the law and from power, while Joseph (Will Yun Lee) anchors her search. The single season of thirteen roughly twenty-two-minute episodes is a serialized story where each chapter peels back another layer of identity and conspiracy, mixing hand-to-hand and gunfights with a rain-slicked, neon-lit atmosphere. The tone is brooding, melancholic and propulsive, with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence, memory and who controls the self. Fans of Blade Runner 2049, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will find resonance in its blend of noir atmosphere and anime-styled action.
