## Synopsis

Apharan (2018-2022) is an Indian Hindi-language crime thriller series created by Mohinder Pratap Singh and Ekta Kapoor, produced for ALTBalaji and VOOT. Senior inspector Rudra Srivastava (Arunoday Singh) of the Uttarakhand police agrees to kidnap a young girl at her own request, expecting a quick extortion payday. Things go wrong almost immediately, and the scheme sprawls into a tangle of lies, hidden identities and a deadly conspiracy that pulls in his wife Ranjana (Nidhi Singh), the cunning Madhu (Mahie Gill) and a network of corrupt figures. The engine of the show is Rudra's desperate effort to stay one step ahead of exposure while every new deception demands another. Across two seasons and twenty-three episodes, the series moves at a brisk, tightly plotted pace, with each episode built around a fresh reversal and a new threat. The mood is tense and paranoid, shaded with dark humor and bleak moral compromise, and the Himalayan police milieu gives the story a grounded, provincial texture. Fans of Sacred Games, Breaking Bad and Fargo will find resonance in its blend of crime, conscience and escalating deceit.
