## Synopsis

Dips is a Swedish satirical workplace comedy that follows three hopelessly incompetent diplomats, played by its creators and co-stars, who are determined to climb the ranks of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, one of Sweden's most admired institutions. Their ambitions far outstrip their abilities, and the nation's reputation seems to rest on their unsteady shoulders. Each short episode is built from awkward meetings, embarrassing blunders, and cringe-inducing attempts to look competent before superiors and foreign dignitaries. The tone is deadpan and mockumentary-adjacent, with the discomfort of secondhand embarrassment driving most of the laughs. Beneath the humiliation runs a warm undercurrent of sincerity, as these characters genuinely want to matter and keep failing in endearingly human ways. The series satirizes national self-image, bureaucratic vanity, and the gap between polished public face and messy reality. Set in contemporary Stockholm, it moves through government corridors, official functions, and diplomatic receptions with a brisk, irreverent pace. Viewers who enjoy The Thick of It, Yes Minister, or The Office will find the same sharp, uncomfortable humor here, softened by affection for its flawed characters.
