## Synopsis

Murder Mountain (2018) is an American true crime docuseries presented as a six-episode limited series on Fusion. Rather than following a single protagonist, it tracks the search for people who travel to Humboldt County, California, drawn by the rapidly growing legal marijuana business, and are never seen again. Each episode moves through interviews with investigators, grieving relatives, and locals who watched the cannabis boom transform a remote region of forests, backroads, and rural properties. The engine is the question of what happened to the missing, pressed against the secrecy of a community where money, land, and a booming trade make people reluctant to talk. Its shape is a single contained inquiry rather than a case of the week, building through accumulated witness accounts and gaps in the record. The tone is sober and unsettling, with a slow, tense atmosphere in which the landscape itself feels complicit and unresolved. Viewers drawn to investigative documentaries will find resonance here, in the vein of The Jinx and Making a Murderer. The series asks what remains of a missing person's trail when a booming industry rewrites the local rules.
