## Synopsis

Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note (2019) is a Japanese anime mystery series created by TYPE-MOON and produced by TROYCA, a spin-off of the Fate franchise adapted from light novels. Waver Velvet, now the scholarly Lord El-Melloi II (voiced by Daisuke Namikawa), takes on a string of magical cases within the Clock Tower, the elite academic stronghold of mages. Assisted by his pupil Gray (Reina Ueda) and rival-turned-colleague Reines El-Melloi Archisorte (Inori Minase), he works through strange incidents that demand both sharp deduction and an understanding of magical politics. The engine is case-driven: each investigation pits a dry, methodical lecturer against hidden agendas, competing factions and eerie sorcery, with a broader mystery threading across the thirteen episodes of this single-season run. Its tone is measured and wry, with an intellectual register and quiet atmosphere rather than bombast. Fans of Fate/Zero, Mushishi and Shiki will find resonance in its blend of occult intrigue, scholarly characters and supernatural puzzle-solving.
