## Synopsis

L.A.'s Finest (2019-2020) is a two-season American crime drama created by Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier for Spectrum. Syd Burnett (Gabrielle Union) has left a complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective, and she is paired with Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba), a working mom carrying an equally complex history of her own. The engine of the show is the uneasy partnership between two women who disagree about almost everything yet find common ground when they go after the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles. Each episode is built around a case, while a deeper personal thread pushes Syd to examine whether her unapologetic lifestyle is hiding a greater secret. Supporting cast includes Ernie Hudson, Ryan McPartlin and Duane Martin. Set in present-day Los Angeles, the series runs with a brash, buddy cop energy, mixing action and banter with the personal stakes of its leads. Its tone is breezy and irreverent, with a heightened, comic-tinged take on the police procedural. Fans of Cagney & Lacey, Rush Hour and The Shield will find a familiar appeal in its partnership-driven crime stories, though the series was canceled after two seasons and 26 episodes.
