## Synopsis

Surviving R. Kelly (2019-2023) is an American documentary docuseries created for Lifetime and produced by Kreativ Inc. Spanning three seasons and fifteen episodes of roughly fifty minutes each, it examines R&B singer R. Kelly, whose genre-defining career and playboy celebrity were long shadowed by rumors of abuse and predatory behavior. The engine of the series is the testimony of survivors and people from his inner circle, who come forward with new allegations about sexual, mental and physical abuse and share their full stories for the first time. Interviews are interwoven with the voices of his family members, including his brothers, and commentary from music figures such as John Legend and cultural voices like Wendy Williams, alongside critics and journalists who have followed the case. Archive footage of Kelly himself recurs throughout, sharpening the contrast between the adored performer and the hidden life the public never saw. The tone is sober, painstaking and angry, with a steady focus on accountability and on how fame and industry loyalty shielded a predator. Viewers drawn to the investigative rigor of Leaving Neverland and the long-form reporting of The Jinx will find the same serious, survivor-centered weight here.
