## Synopsis

Pagan Peak (2019-2023) is a German crime drama series created by Cyrill Boss and Philipp Stennert and broadcast on Sky One. Set in the Alpine wilderness along the German-Austrian border, it follows detectives Ellie Stocker (Julia Jentsch) and Gedeon Winter (Nicholas Ofczarek) as they investigate a gruesomely staged body discovered at the frontier. Their engine is a search across two national jurisdictions, with each case pulling them deeper into a killer's sinister world of ritual-like murders that grow more deliberate as the investigation continues. Supporting characters such as Gregor Ansbach (Franz Hartwig) and Claas Wallinger (Hanno Koffler) add layers of loyalty and suspicion to the hunt. Across three seasons of eight episodes each, the show unfolds as one continuing investigation rather than a case of the week, rewarding close attention to clues. The mood is cold, tense and brooding, with rain, mountain fog and the threat of old folk belief hanging over every scene. Fans of The Bridge and Broadchurch will find resonance in its cross-border tension and slow-burn dread.
