## Synopsis

Coroner (2019-2022) is a Canadian crime drama created by Morwyn Brebner for CBC Television. Serinda Swan plays Dr. Jenny Cooper, a fierce, quick-witted coroner in Toronto who is also a newly widowed single mother with secrets of her own to unearth. Her investigations into unexplained and sudden deaths form the engine of each episode, with the medical examiner's work of establishing cause of death driving the case-of-the-week structure. Roger Cross plays Donovan McAvoy and Ehren Kassam plays Ross Kalighi, both in principal supporting roles around her, while Kiley May and Tamara Podemski round out the wider cast. Across four seasons and thirty-eight episodes, the show runs as a mostly procedural crime series with a personal mystery threading through the case files. Its tone is gritty and urban, with a grounded, contemporary Toronto setting rather than a stylized one. Fans of Bones and Quincy, M.E. will find resonance in its forensic focus, while Cardinal suits viewers drawn to Canadian crime fiction with a troubled investigator at its center.
