## Synopsis

Always a Witch (2019-2020) is a Colombian fantasy drama series created by Ana María Parra Vázquez for Netflix. Across two seasons and eighteen episodes, a young witch from the 17th century, Carmen Eguiluz (Angely Gaviria), crosses centuries to rescue Esteban (Sebastián Eslava), the man she loves. Her journey forces her to adapt to the noise, technology, and customs of present-day Cartagena while she hunts for a way back to her beloved and confronts a dark rival. Alongside her, Alicia (Sofia Araujo) and Mayte (Valeria Emiliani) help her navigate the modern city, while Ninibé (Verónica Orozco) and Aldemar (Luis Fernando Hoyos) bring added supernatural intrigue. The engine of each episode is the clash between colonial-era magic and contemporary life, with spells misfiring in ordinary settings and romance raising the stakes. The show carries a light, romantic and sincere register, with melodrama and a fond attention to the Caribbean coastal city's streets and sea air. Fans of Outlander and Sabrina the Teenage Witch will find resonance in its blend of time displacement, witchcraft, and lovelorn devotion. Its episodes move briskly, and the tone stays warm even when the danger sharpens.
