## Synopsis

The Widow (2019) is a British limited series thriller created by Jack Williams and Harry Williams and produced for ITV1 and Prime Video. Kate Beckinsale stars as Georgia Wells, a woman whose husband Will Mason (Matthew Le Nevez) vanishes after a plane crash, and whose search for him pulls her into the Congo. Alex Kingston and Charles Dance play figures tied to the family's secrets, while Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and Babs Olusanmokun appear among the people who shape the unfolding hunt. The engine of the story is Georgia's refusal to accept the official account as she follows a trail of lies, shifting loyalties and dangerous local power struggles. Across eight episodes of roughly fifty minutes each, the drama moves steadily through its single continuing investigation, with each revelation reshaping what she believes about the man she loved. The mood is tense, paranoid and emotionally raw, with a grounded, gritty texture. Viewers who enjoy the intrigue of The Night Manager, the grief-driven dread of The Captive and the twisty suspicion of Broadchurch will find much to savour here. Its adult themes and violence mark it as a mature, watchful thriller.
